Christmas Falcon International.

Nice grain for a Falcon Bowl.

Falcon International Christmas present from my Son Lachlan.
I believe this is a very early International with stampings on the shank.

Ornsby Pipe

A recent Ebay purchase.
The pipe is unsmoked and in perfect condition.
So now i need to find a tapered reamer so i can make bowls for it.

Strange looking smoke hole on closer inspection its just a piece of paper.
The pipe has a nice open draw just as i like it.

Invented by Chief Marine Officer, William Edward Ornsby in an attempt to create a cooler smoke and a dry bowl.
Marketed by the Ornsby Pipe Company Ltd, Pennywell, Sunderland, Tyne & Wear, England, predominately in the North of England, this pipe is virtually a stem direct to bowl.
The push fit stem/bit can be rotated to clear any shreds of tobacco that may be blocking the airway.
A half turn of the stem will cut any trapped leaf in the airway and a quick blow will eject the offending particle.
The packaging was also unusual in that it was a tube
The pipe came with two choices of stem, straight or curved and there was a choice of six bowls: Natural, Brown Sandblast, Black Sandblast, Smooth Mahogany Finish, Deep Cut Horizontal Carved or the Deep Cut Vertical Carved.

Snuff Grinding.

After reading about how to make snuff i bought this tiny mortar and pestle.Thinking about what tobacco to grind first i chose Samuel Gawith 1792
As it so strong it would be good to mix with the other snuffs to boost the nicotine.
I'm stunned at how well it worked after drying the tobacco out it ground to a fine powder.
Snuffs ok but its strong.Perfect to boost the nicotine level of the other snuffs.Which is how i smoke it in the pipe added to mild tobacco to boost the nicotine.

Snuff and Snuff boxes

Wilsons of Sharrow Coffee Cream.
This snuff smells great in the tin there is a slight smell of coffee and tobacco.
After snuffing it i get a the slight coffee scent and a very nice tobacco smell.
Fairly easy to snuff and i feel the nicotine.
The tin is a push together and not a good fit i am sure that if you carried it around in
your pocket it's only a matter of time before it spills everywhere.
Luckily it came with tape around it to seal in the freshness.

Gawith Hoggarth Irish D
It comes in a plastic tap box which is a bit of an intelligence test to open.
Before i opened it it was leaking snuff.
The snuff smells like toasted tobacco.
Because of the tap tin not sealing its very dry and dusty.
The hardest of the snuffs I have to snuff due to its dryness.
I have sniffed it in to far many times instant pain and tears not fun.
If it was in a sealed tin and in better condition it might be a good snuff.
Nicotine level is good.

Toque Chocolate
`Comes in a good screw top tin tight and sealed.
Easy to snuff and a good dark chocolate scent.
A little light on the nicotine for me.

I was thinking about the bad packaging and decided that i needed a snuff box.
Time to start turning
These two snuff boxes are turned out of Briar wood.
The lid is a nice tight seal
and the lip fits against the inside of the lid to minimize spillage when you open it.
The options for coin decoration are endless.
Had a couple of American Quarters and
found a Centenary of Canberra 20c piece for HoboHoots perfect.
